Why? What, Why?
April 26, 2008
Hi! I’m Vulpi. I used to run go-go★FIGHTEEN!. Now I run… this. IT’S GOING PLACES, I PROMISE YOU.
Um, I listen to a lot of Japanese music! I admire a lot of Japanese gravure idols! I buy a lot of their shit! And I also complain about it all a whole, whole lot. And that is most of what you’ll get out of this blog. Japanese peeps, occasional fangirling, and reviews full of hate. (Or love!)
So hey, how about those rankings, right? Well, here you go!
1. Michishige Sayumi (Morning Musume). Can never be topped. Ever.
2. Matsushima Hatsune (gravure idol). The most wonderfully human idol I think I’ll ever see. Runs a fucking awesome blog.
3. Miyoshi Erika (former Biyuuden). Lovely woman, great singer. She’s a role model to me.
4. Qian Lin (Morning Musume). I don’t know what it is about this girl, but she needs more love. Now. Oly oly oly oh, yely yely yely yeah.
5. Takewa Haruna (former SweetS). Her singing, her dancing, her passion, her attitude in life… her teeth… Amazing person all around.
Honorable mentions! Sometimes, you’re all just too inactive to make it to my top five. But nonetheless, I’d probably rank you higher than the active ones.
1. Ishimura Maiha (former Berryz Koubou). Couldn’t dance, could barely sing, but that smile just lit up her entire face. There is no one in Berryz like her, and I’m sorry, but they’re kind of just shallow pedobait to me now.
2. Mizuno Manabi (seiyuu/voice actress, former soloist, and is currently in Plume). Turning thirty-one this year and still going strong. Take that, U-15 bitches.
3. Imai Yu (former AKB48). She was never given the credit she deserved and graduated from AKB48 without much of a reaction, but her personality, dreams and perseverance are an inspiration to me, and she’s the #1 person I’d want to write to just to let her know that someone outside of Japan loves her, even if it’s nearly impossible for them to show it.
4. Aikawa Misao (former gravure idol). My first brush with the idol industry before I even knew what they were, and therefore kind of my first love, in a way. A very popular idol in the ’90s who retired in her early twenties, though it’s hard to find non-Japanese information on her now; I pretty much live to collect her various old works.
And one very, very fierce guy who isn’t a Japanese idol, but probably should be.
1. Danny Noriega (former American Idol contestant). Oh bb you are TMTH.
Yep. Okay!
